SacMoves Coalition is dormant. Past leadership (Dan, Deb, David) have stepped down, and no person or organization has stepped up, so the coalition is dormant. If an organization, individual, or group of individuals wishes to re-start the coalition, all the resources still exist but are inactive. Please email sacmoves.coalition@gmail.com if you wish to be part of re-starting.
Purpose: To build a broad-based community-driven coalition in the Sacramento region to advocate for funding and development of an equitable, efficient, sustainable transportation system for the 21st Century.

Equity and Inclusivity: SacMoves Coalition is committed to diversity and inclusivity. The coalition will seek out, include, and amplify voices that are often missing from conversations about transportation and equity. SacMoves Coalition is accountable for inclusivity and collaborative leadership in all decisions.
Guiding Principles SacMoves Coalition is committed to the following coequal guiding principles:
- Equity and Choice – Provide real, inclusive community-informed, viable transportation choices for all people throughout our diverse region, prioritizing historically excluded neighborhoods and vulnerable populations. Support from SacMoves pertaining to the funding and development of transportation projects will be contingent upon, among other characteristics, the project’s means of addressing equity and inclusivity throughout the construction and operation of the project.
- Safety – Eliminate fatalities and serious injuries. Prioritize the elimination of race-based disparities resulting in fatalities and serious injuries with the ultimate goal of eliminating all fatalities and serious injuries.
- Access and Mobility – Improve opportunities for businesses and citizens to easily access goods, jobs, services, and housing, with or without a car, and take advantage of innovative technologies and the sharing economy.
- Environmental Quality and Sustainability – Minimize transportation impacts on the environment by reducing vehicle miles traveled (VMT), which lowers greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to address climate change, ensure cleaner air, improve public health, and protect our natural resources.
- Smart Land Use – Design a transportation system to support more efficient, compact growth patterns, including increased housing and transportation options, focusing more growth inward and around transit, and improving the economic viability of rural areas while conserving land and resources.
- Financial Stewardship – Ensure successful management of resources for a transportation system that delivers cost-effective and accountable results, is feasible to construct and maintain, and competes well for state and federal funding.
- Economic Vitality – Advocate for effectively connecting people to jobs, housing, and education, getting goods to market and making the Sacramento and Northern California megaregion more competitive in a globalized economy.
Long-term Goal: Our coalition’s guiding principles become the model for all transportation planning and funding for Sacramento and the Northern California mega-region, and the regional transportation system develops in accordance with these policies.
