SacMoves Coalition

transition to groups.io email

For years the SacMoves Coalition email list was maintained by Breathe California Sacramento Region. We thank them for the service. But the process was completely manual, requiring the people to email Breathe to get on the list, and the list to be maintained by hand by a Breathe employee. There was no way for a person to get on the list, or leave the list, or change their email address without action by Breathe. So SacMoves is transitioning to use of groups.io email groups.

Shortly after the June 20 coalition meeting, everyone on the existing email list will receive an invitation to join either an organizations group or an individuals group. At this time, both groups will receive the same emails, but if/when in the future the coalition (which is a coalition of organizations) becomes more active on transportation issues, it may create separate messages for each group.

People who simply respond to the invitation will be placed into a group. But people who create a groups.io account will be able to manage their own subscription, including changing email addresses, names, email frequency, and even leave the groups without asking for changes. A huge benefit for subscribers and for SacMoves. Accounts are free.

People who do not respond to this invitation will still receive an email about the August 15 meeting, and will receive another invitation to subscribe before that meeting. But for future meetings (October 17, December 19, etc.), announcements and Zoom links will be provided only to those who have joined a groups.io group.

SacMoves Coalition is a coalition of organizations interested in transportation, climate, equity, and housing, with a focus on transportation. Organizations which were active participants in the past are listed on the Members page. Organizations need not be formal nonprofits. An organization will designate a liaison to the coalition, and may have an alternate.

SacMoves welcomes the participation of individuals as well. We realize that individuals may be members of one or many organizations, but organizational membership is only for the designated liaison, and alternate if selected. Commercial entities and government employees may join the individuals group.

Once the invitations have been sent, links to both groups will be posted on the website/blog. Requests to join using those links will be pending and must be approved.
