At the meeting yesterday of the coalition, no one stepped up to leadership of the coalition, so SacMoves will go dormant for the time being. Notes from that meeting will be posted soon.
For updates, Steve Cohn and others are moving forward with finalizing language for a citizen initiative on the November 2026 ballot. The measure for the City of Sacramento would be about half for transit and half for other transportation, focused on fix-it-first for roads and improvements for active transportation safety. Once the city has accepted the language, the group will be gathing signatures to qualify, and is working on funding for signature gathering and promotion. As a citizen initiative, a measure only requires 50%+1 to pass, unlike an agency measure which requires 67%. Steve said that there will be a website for the measure soon.
This blog/website will not disappear, but it will be inactive. As a WordPress site, it will eventualy revert to a free, but ad-supported site, and when that happens, the domain will be https://sacmoves.wordpress.com. All the other resources of SacMoves will be on hiatus, but will not disappear.
If any organization or individual is interested about stepping up into leadership of the coalition, please email sacmoves.coalition@gmail.com. This official coalition email will remain active, but will only be checked intermitantly. The tasks and roles are listed on the December 19 meeting, and transition post. We are not expecting any one or any organization to take on the whole list, nor are many of the tasks required, but the first three items are citical to re-starting. Dan Allison is willing to support people re-starting the coalition, but will no longer be in any leadership role.
