SacMoves Coalition, represented by Deb Banks (coalition member SABA) and Dan Allison (coalition member Sacramento Transit Advocates and Riders STAR), will be presenting to the Sacramento Transportation Authority (SacTA) board at the September 11 meeting. The presentation is available, but the one presented may vary a bit.

SacMoves is able to make this presentation, ahead of stakeholder outreach that may occur later this fall, specifically because we are a coalition of organizations with interests in transportation funding. SacTA has a committee exploring whether to offer a transportation sales tax measure in 2026, and if so, what it might contain. A citizen/voter survey is being or will take place soon, with results offered to the board to assist them in deciding whether to do a measure, and if it looks possible, there will be additional stakeholder outreach. Measures offered by government agencies must reach a 2/3 yes vote, which is a challenge in a county such as Sacramento that has a strong anti-tax voter voice.

The meeting will be Thursday, September 11, 2025, starting at 1:30 PM, at the Sacramento Board of Supervisors chambers, 700 H Street, Suite 1450, Sacramento, CA 95814. The meetings typically last 60 to 90 minutes, but sometimes go longer. We don’t know where on the agenda the SacMoves presentation will be placed. When the agenda is available, 72 hours before the meeting, this post will be updated, or an additional one created.

We hope our member organizations and individuals can attend the meeting to show support, in-person if possible, though we recognize that workday meetings are difficult for many people. The meeting may be viewed online at Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission (check the Watch Live Meeting link). Comments may be made in-person, or by email ahead of time by email to BoardClerk@saccounty.gov (include date and agenda item number). Board members will only see email comments before the meeting if sent at least a day ahead.
